Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain edge compute, networking, and storage infrastructure across distributed global sites.
- Deploy and maintain reliable, resilient, and high-performing edge workloads and services.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, dashboards, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Own incident response, including triage, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, prevention, P1/P2 bridges, and post-incident reviews.
- Track and improve SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, availability, latency, error rates, deployment failures, and MTTR.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code/configuration-management processes for repeatable edge deployments.
- Manage edge Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads.
- Maintain device fleets and gateways and implement remote-management strategies.
- Coordinate with platform, Google, engineering, security, network, and field teams to resolve issues and improve operational maturity.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience with Google Cloud Compute Services.
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Experience with GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, edge Kubernetes distributions, GitHub, GCP Cloud Build, and Terraform.
- Experience with observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenSearch.
- Knowledge of security tooling and practices including Vault or Key Vault, certificate management, image scanning, and policy engines.
- Knowledge of networking technologies such as SD-WAN/SASE, VPN, BGP, NAT, DNS, and proxies is optional.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, ownership, and issue-resolution skills.
- Ability to work across time zones in shifts, support a 24/7/365 operation, and participate in on-call rotations.
