Responsibilities
- Analyze component requirements using subsystem requirements and design inputs.
- Produce component architecture and design specifications compliant with SIL 0 requirements of EN 50128.
- Write interface specifications and document message formats.
- Develop component software according to coding standards.
- Develop component test scripts in Python using the in-house test framework.
- Produce precise, traceable design documentation linked to requirements and test cases.
- Apply software design patterns and pragmatic design approaches to support project delivery.
- Adhere to software processes, coding standards, cybersecurity standards, and safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or equivalent.
- Ideally at least 5 years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality design documentation.
- Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns through object-oriented design.
- Experience with C++, Java, or similar object-oriented languages.
- Experience with XML, XSLT, MySQL, and unit testing frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience writing software requirements and performing object-oriented design.
- Experience designing or developing real-time or semi-real-time software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Rail industry experience is beneficial.
