Base Salary
$163k - $274k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate production-grade machine learning systems for rich-media and floor-plan products.
- Lead end-to-end machine learning work across data, training, evaluation, deployment, observability, and production iteration.
- Partner with applied scientists and backend, web, and mobile software engineers to integrate ML into Zillow experiences.
- Improve the quality, latency, reliability, and maintainability of machine learning workflows.
- Drive technical decisions involving structured inference, computer vision, spatial signals, and performance tradeoffs.
- Establish shared machine learning tooling, patterns, and best practices.
- Mentor peers through technical execution, code review, debugging, and cross-functional communication.
Requirements
- Significant professional experience building and shipping machine learning models or ML-powered systems in production.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and at least one modern machine learning framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience building and operating end-to-end ML workflows, including data pipelines, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Strong foundation in representation learning, structured prediction, computer vision, optimization, and failure analysis.
- Ability to debug model and system behavior using metrics, logs, and experiments.
- Ability to collaborate with applied scientists, software engineers, and product partners in ambiguous cross-functional settings.
- Strong engineering judgment balancing experimentation with reliability, speed, and maintainability.
- Clear technical communication and ability to influence decisions across disciplines.
- Experience in computer vision, spatial data, 3D, AR/VR, mapping, search, recommendation systems, or related domains is preferred.
