Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, secure backend services and applications for pricing and offers experiences.
- Lead complex features end to end, including system design, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
- Design APIs, data models, and distributed-system solutions with clear technical trade-offs.
- Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into reusable technical capabilities.
- Own service health, scalability, resilience, observability, performance, code quality, and technical-debt reduction.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, including engineers across team integrations and technical practices.
- Integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions safely in production and apply AI/ML concepts to customer-facing products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- 8+ years of relevant professional software development experience focused on backend development.
- Strong experience using Java or Kotlin to build and operate high-performance, high-throughput, highly available, scalable cloud services.
- Experience owning production services throughout their lifecycle, including design, API design, data modeling, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and operations.
- Ability to understand complex distributed systems and design testable, observable solutions aligned with business outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of integration patterns, testing and monitoring tools, SLAs, resiliency, scalability patterns, and alerting.
- Experience formally mentoring at least three engineers.
- Preferred experience with high-scale pricing, offers, or transactional domains; distributed or multi-service architectures; reliability and performance optimization.
- Preferred technical leadership experience defining architecture, influencing design patterns, guiding cross-team integrations, and communicating trade-offs.
- Preferred experience improving observability, automation, performance, and incident analysis through data-driven operational practices.
- Preferred production experience integrating AI/ML-enabled services or platforms and applying AI-assisted development or testing tools.
