Responsibilities
- Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of complex institutional finance systems from specification through production and on-call.
- Write detailed technical designs, decompose work into reviewable steps, and make failure states, invariants, and recovery explicit.
- Shape the technical roadmap and architecture with emphasis on reliability, correctness, and risk control.
- Provide design-focused code reviews, mentor engineers, and serve as a technical partner to stakeholders and counterpart teams.
Requirements
- Independently deliver complex, high-ambiguity backend projects with long-term impact and production ownership.
- Have hands-on experience building financial systems such as balances, ledgers, risk engines, settlement, or payments.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in distributed state across boundaries, transactional integrity, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics.
- Exercise strong design judgment by identifying failure paths, invariants, and enforcing constraints, tests, or alerts.
- Communicate effectively across teams and product partners, provide substantive design feedback, and mentor engineers.
- Be fluent in a modern backend language; the team works primarily with Python, Django, and Go.
