Base Salary
$175k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own a portfolio of strategic customers and build relationships with SREs, Java developers, platform engineers, and architects.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor for Azul Prime and own customer production adoption and technical outcomes.
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, JVM performance tuning, and architectural guidance for enterprise-scale Java applications.
- Partner with Azul runtime, compiler, GC, and tooling engineering teams to resolve complex issues and communicate customer feedback.
- Identify candidate applications, guide production deployments, and optimize reliability, scalability, latency, throughput, and cloud costs.
- Deliver customer workshops, training, and technical business reviews, and create documentation, runbooks, and reusable customer assets.
- Mentor peers across TAM, Sales Engineering, and Support organizations and maintain accurate account activity and engagement records.
Requirements
- 12+ years in senior technical roles such as software engineering, SRE, performance engineering, or cloud/platform engineering.
- 8+ years in customer-facing technical roles such as TAM, solutions architect, consulting engineer, or customer-facing SRE.
- Strong knowledge of Java programming and JVM internals, including garbage collection, JIT compilation, class loading, threading, and the memory model.
- Demonstrated experience tuning and troubleshooting enterprise-scale Java applications in production.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and applying structured problem-solving techniques.
- Strong Linux fundamentals, including shell scripting and performance troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, public cloud platforms, and containerization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audiences ranging from engineers to senior executives.
- Based in North America and able to travel occasionally to customer sites, typically 10–20%.
- Preferred qualifications include JVM performance specialization, observability and monitoring experience, cloud or SRE certifications, Java community contributions, Jira and Confluence experience, and familiarity with Azul Prime, OpenJDK, HotSpot, or other commercial Java runtimes.
