Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of the compiler stack across model import, lowering, scheduling, memory planning, and code generation.
- Design and implement complex compiler subsystems that determine performance and correctness.
- Define MLIR dialect hierarchies, lowering strategies, and pass pipelines.
- Lead hardware-software co-design with hardware architects on instruction sets, memory hierarchies, and synchronization mechanisms.
- Set technical standards for correctness, determinism, testing, and performance.
- Mentor staff and senior compiler engineers and shape team-level technical growth.
- Represent the compiler team in cross-organizational technical discussions and roadmap planning.
- Architect, code, review, debug, and profile compiler systems while remaining hands-on.
Requirements
- Deep experience designing and building production compilers with hands-on ownership of major subsystems.
- Strong C++ and compiler infrastructure expertise.
- Hands-on experience with MLIR, LLVM, or another production compiler framework at scale.
- A track record of shipping compiler work that other teams or systems build on.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and how compilers exploit hardware capabilities.
- Ability to lead complex technical programs across compiler and hardware teams.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and shaping team-level technical decisions.
- Preferred experience with AI accelerator, NPU, DSP, GPU, or VLIW compiler development.
- Preferred experience with custom MLIR dialects, hardware-specific IRs, static scheduling, software-managed memory, DMA engines, and multi-level memory hierarchies.
- Preferred experience with quantization, fixed-point or mixed-precision computation, complex arithmetic, bare-metal or embedded inference, runtime or device-driver integration, and hardware-software co-design.
- Preferred familiarity with StableHLO, XLA, JAX, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or ONNX.
