Responsibilities
- Own the development and evolution of impact.com’s Shopify integration, including Apps, Web Pixels, and platform extensions.
- Build privacy-compliant solutions that capture conversions, refunds, and customer events accurately across Shopify’s evolving platform.
- Design and improve secure merchant installation and onboarding experiences, including OAuth flows and credential management.
- Build and maintain the Ruby on Rails application connecting Shopify with impact.com’s APIs and workflow engine.
- Design resilient webhook consumers and manage high-volume data pipelines and synchronization between platforms.
- Own the production health, performance, security, and resilience of the Shopify integration.
- Manage API version upgrades, monitor webhook delivery, troubleshoot merchant-specific issues, and evaluate capabilities such as Checkout Extensibility, Functions, and Web Pixels.
Requirements
- Production experience building Shopify Apps, integrations, or platform extensions beyond storefront development.
- Experience integrating complex SaaS platforms and designing reliable event-driven systems.
- Experience building and maintaining production backend services.
- Ruby on Rails experience is preferred; experienced Shopify engineers with Node.js, Python, PHP, or Java experience are also considered.
- Comfort with modern JavaScript or TypeScript and browser-based tracking technologies.
- Familiarity with Shopify Apps, Checkout UI Extensions, Web Pixels, Shopify Functions, App Bridge, GraphQL Admin API, OAuth, Webhooks, and Shopify Partner Dashboard.
- Understanding of APIs, OAuth authentication, webhooks, rate limiting, background processing, and high-volume event pipelines.
- Experience with Shopify Plus, marketing attribution, affiliate platforms, conversion tracking, analytics platforms, commerce integrations, workflow automation, and production monitoring and observability is desirable.
