
Embedded SW Quality Test Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Define validation strategies and execute hardware, software, regression, feature, and design-validation testing for GE Power Conversion drive control platforms.
- Develop automated test applications and Python scripts, test scenarios, test plans, test cases, bug reports, and supporting technical documentation.
- Create test scenarios and troubleshoot systems using EtherCAT, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, CAN bus, IEC 61850, and related communication protocols.
- Prepare and manage test rigs, laboratories, hardware, software, tools, inventories, and component tracking.
- Validate remote monitoring systems, KPIs, loggers, GE VISOR systems, controller redundancy, and embedded software across industrial domains.
- Develop embedded software, libraries, drivers, high-level applications, ICT/SCT features, and front-end applications using Microsoft technologies.
- Analyze embedded code, identify defect root causes, implement corrective actions, and support customer issue resolution.
- Collaborate with product managers, team leads, developers, customers, and global engineering teams on product enhancements, upgrades, and new product introductions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in an industrial development and validation environment.
- Hands-on experience with C, C++, Visual C++, C#, RTOS, and Python scripting.
- Expertise in IEC 61850, including Edition 1, Edition 2, MMS, GOOSE, and SMV communication.
- Knowledge of EtherCAT, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, CAN bus, OPC, OPC UA, Ethernet, and TCP/IP.
- Experience testing controller redundancy, managing test platforms, using IEC 61850 simulators and troubleshooting tools, and developing or working with ICT/SCT configurator tools.
- Basic understanding of SNTP, PTP, HSR, PRP, FTP, IEC 62443, IEC 62351, and cybersecurity.
- Strong debugging, communication, interpersonal, leadership, and technical problem-solving skills.
