Base Salary
$251k - $340k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive architectural vision for key systems and platforms.
- Evaluate foundational technologies, patterns, and practices for future growth.
- Translate ambiguous technical problems into roadmaps and guide strategic solutions.
- Lead organization-wide initiatives improving system health, observability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
- Partner with product, design, data, engineering, and cross-functional leadership to align technical strategy with business priorities.
- Break down large, multi-team initiatives and drive them from concept through delivery.
- Mentor Staff, Senior, and early-career engineers.
- Provide technical leadership in design reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-team forums.
- Advise engineering leadership and cross-functional partners on technical strategy.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building scalable, maintainable software systems.
- Proven technical leadership across multiple teams or domains, including complex distributed-systems design and evolution.
- Deep backend engineering expertise, preferably with strong Python proficiency.
- Experience with distributed systems and relational databases.
- Experience with metrics instrumentation, data-driven performance tuning, load-testing infrastructure, and tools such as Datadog.
- Strong architectural skills and ability to evaluate tradeoffs, system interactions, operational risks, and platform evolution.
- Ability to influence technical strategy, drive alignment across teams, and guide organizations through ambiguity.
- Exceptional communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong track record of developing engineers through mentorship, coaching, and leadership.
- Experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries is a bonus.
