Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead reviews and continuous improvement of Axon’s Kubernetes platforms for security, resilience, architecture, and operational excellence.
- Define and execute technical strategy for securing cloud-native infrastructure across Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure.
- Modernize security application delivery through improved deployment architecture, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Design and implement automated security guardrails and controls across CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows.
- Architect, provision, and secure highly available infrastructure for critical security services.
- Establish Kubernetes and container security standards covering cluster hardening, workload security, access controls, network controls, admission policies, image security, and runtime protection.
- Partner with SRE, platform engineering, product security, and development teams to embed security into architecture and workflows.
- Provide technical leadership during complex security and infrastructure incidents, including root cause analysis and durable remediation.
- Improve security observability through telemetry, logging, metrics, detection, alerting, automation, and operational resilience.
- Build internal security tooling, runbooks, and self-service capabilities to reduce operational toil.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical direction and engineering standards across teams.
- Apply PKI and certificate management expertise to strengthen security architecture where applicable.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in security engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure, SRE, or related roles.
- Expert-level hands-on Kubernetes experience, including architecture, provisioning, upgrades, networking, RBAC, policy enforcement, workload security, and production operations at scale.
- Deep expertise in AWS and/or Azure and infrastructure-as-code for highly available, secure cloud infrastructure.
- Strong software engineering and automation skills using Go, Python, or similar languages.
- Extensive experience with CI/CD and application deployment architecture, container security, registries, vulnerability scanning, and software supply-chain security.
- Knowledge of cloud-native security architecture, including network security, secrets management, workload identity, policy enforcement, and runtime protection.
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, GitOps, or similar infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and leading responses to high-impact security, infrastructure, and production incidents.
- Experience designing security observability capabilities across cloud and Kubernetes environments.
- Ability to provide technical leadership across organizational boundaries, mentor senior engineers, and establish engineering standards.
- Strong communication skills for translating complex security and infrastructure issues into technical direction and engineering plans.
- Experience with PKI, certificate management, or machine identity at scale is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
