Base Salary

$320k - $485k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Scope and lead complex, multi-month infrastructure projects from ambiguous beginnings through production.
  • Make architectural decisions that shape infrastructure foundations used by other engineers and teams.
  • Drive technical alignment and strategy across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Partner with research and product teams to translate infrastructure and compute needs into technical designs.
  • Own the reliability, scalability, and security of developed systems as usage and complexity grow.
  • Build operational processes including incident response, postmortems, and on-call rotations.
  • Mentor engineers and raise the team’s technical standards.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or production infrastructure.
  • Track record of independently scoping and delivering complex, ambiguous, multi-month technical projects.
  • Experience making architectural decisions adopted by other engineers and teams.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Rust, Go, or Java.
  • Experience with modern cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code, on AWS and/or GCP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience driving alignment across teams or stakeholders.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of software engineering experience, excluding internships.
  • Preferred: machine learning infrastructure experience with GPUs, TPUs, Trainium, and networking infrastructure such as NCCL.
  • Preferred: low-level systems experience including Linux kernel tuning or eBPF.
  • Preferred: security or privacy engineering best practices and prior technical leadership or mentoring experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
