Responsibilities
- Enhance AI/ML validation frameworks and tools for autonomous vehicle software systems.
- Design and implement automated testing pipelines for simulation-based and real-world validation scenarios using machine learning.
- Use machine learning to improve simulated performance metrics.
- Build tools using machine learning and statistical methods to identify edge cases and failure modes in autonomous vehicles.
- Analyze large-scale driving data to identify validation gaps and improve testing coverage.
- Define best practices, performance requirements, and innovative verification and validation strategies for autonomous systems.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in and pursuing a PhD in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Experience coding in Python, SQL, C, C++, or other programming languages.
- Preferred experience in machine learning, simulation, AI validation, deep learning, reinforcement learning, data mining, or computer vision.
- Preferred software engineering experience through an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or PhD papers.
- Preferred experience with systems software or algorithms.
- Preferred record of significant results through grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences.
- Preferred experience with Hadoop, HBase, Pig, MapReduce, Sawzall, or Bigtable.
- Intent to return to the degree program after the internship is preferred.
