Responsibilities
- Turn scoped customer opportunities into working technical solutions and measurable demonstrations.
- Work with customer engineers and stakeholders to understand development needs, constraints, and success criteria.
- Investigate unfamiliar technical domains through hands-on prototyping, integration, and feasibility testing.
- Build and lead proofs of concept with Solutions Architects, product, engineering, and customer teams.
- Implement complex algorithms and compute-heavy pipelines on GPUs, FPGAs, and edge systems using Code Metal’s platform.
- Profile, debug, and tune proofs of concept and early deployments for latency, throughput, memory, and power.
- Debug issues spanning algorithms, software, hardware, and toolchains across heterogeneous systems.
- Capture reusable code, integration patterns, and playbooks from successful proofs of concept.
- Support early integration and validation and partner with Forward Deployed Engineers during transitions to sustained deployment or production.
- Feed technical learnings back into the platform and customer strategy across engineering, research, product, and growth teams.
Requirements
- Strong background in computer science, systems engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar domains quickly and turn technical information into practical experiments and implementations.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem decomposition, and hands-on prototyping skills.
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex systems across software and hardware boundaries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs and results.
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10%–20% to customer sites.
- Preferred experience designing or architecting complex technical systems.
- Preferred experience with one or more of C/C++, Rust, Python, Verilog/VHDL, MATLAB, or CUDA/OpenCL.
- Preferred hands-on experience with GPU programming, FPGA development, embedded or edge systems, and compute-intensive workloads such as DSP, RF, communications, or computer vision.
- Experience with U.S. Government programs or dual-use technologies is preferred.
- An active U.S. security clearance or eligibility to obtain one is preferred.
