Responsibilities
- Develop and own the testing strategy for new features, changes, and regression tests.
- Decide what should be tested, how it should be tested, and the appropriate testing depth using manual, exploratory, or automated methods.
- Analyze risks and dependencies in complex software systems and derive appropriate test scenarios and priorities.
- Plan and coordinate larger testing efforts, including effort estimation, test-area structuring, test-script creation, and coordination of colleagues.
- Distribute testing activities, support colleagues with testing questions, and consolidate test results.
- Document test results, identify test-coverage gaps, and make risks transparent.
- Develop test automation and write automated tests, including with Cypress.
- Determine which tests should be automated and help build a sustainable regression-test suite.
- Collaborate closely with developers and other team members to integrate quality activities early in the development process.
Requirements
- Several years of practical experience in software testing using both manual and automated test methods.
- Experience developing automated tests; Cypress experience is preferred, while comparable test-automation frameworks are also welcome.
- Ability to understand complex software systems, dependencies, functions, and scenarios.
- Ability to independently derive required tests and key risks from requirements and technical changes.
- Structured, independent working style and willingness to take responsibility for software quality.
- Experience planning, structuring, documenting, and evaluating testing activities and results.
- Strong communication skills with developers and the ability to explain testing priorities clearly to colleagues.
- Interest in new tools and methods and in actively improving QA processes.
- Fluent German language skills at minimum C1 level in speaking and writing.
- Formal test-management or leadership experience is not required; the role is suited to an experienced software tester or QA Engineer seeking greater responsibility.
