Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs supporting billing, rates, usage calculations, usage visibility, and marketplace workflows.
- Build backend services primarily in Go and contribute to Node.js, TypeScript, and React applications.
- Improve billing and usage correctness through validation, reconciliation, error handling, recovery, and operational controls.
- Automate recurring manual tasks and create maintainable operational workflows.
- Maintain Kubernetes workloads, scheduled jobs, cloud resources, deployment configuration, infrastructure as code, and automated delivery pipelines.
- Investigate production issues across application code, databases, and infrastructure, including failed jobs, slow queries, resource exhaustion, and replication delays.
- Plan and execute service deployments, database changes, infrastructure migrations, monitoring, validation, and recovery plans.
- Build integrations with cloud marketplaces and external business systems.
- Deliver projects end to end from requirements clarification through implementation, testing, rollout, and production support.
- Improve auditability, traceability, dashboards, alert quality, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
- Collaborate with product management, Support, DealOps, GTM, infrastructure teams, and adjacent AppCore squads.
- Provide technical leadership through design discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and practical engineering improvements.
- Participate in the squad’s on-call rotation after onboarding and follow through on incident findings.
Requirements
- Substantial experience designing, delivering, and operating production backend systems with the judgment to lead complex work hands-on.
- Strong professional experience building and operating production backend systems in Go.
- Professional frontend experience with TypeScript and React or comparable technologies, plus willingness to work across the stack.
- Experience with distributed systems, including partial failures, retries, consistency, and service interactions.
- Experience with relational databases, data modeling, schema migrations, query performance, and safe production changes.
- Practical experience deploying and troubleshooting containerized services and jobs in Kubernetes.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure through code and working with CI/CD pipelines, environment configuration, and controlled rollouts.
- Ability to investigate production problems using logs, metrics, and traces and turn findings into lasting improvements.
- Record of delivering projects end to end, clarifying requirements, making trade-offs, and following through after release.
- Experience working remotely with clear asynchronous communication across time zones.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar domains and technologies and take ownership beyond the primary area of expertise.
- Experience writing readable, well-tested, maintainable software.
- Willingness to participate in on-call and take responsibility for production behavior.
- Experience supporting colleagues through code reviews, mentoring, and technical discussions.
- Bonus experience includes usage metering, billing, pricing, reconciliation, auditability, Terraform, Jsonnet, Argo Workflows, GCP, BigQuery, AWS, Azure, NetSuite, Salesforce, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and OpenTelemetry.
