Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate custom plugins, services, and middleware within the TAK ecosystem, including ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Server, and MILTAK.
- Architect and implement Cursor on Target data schemas, translations, and event-routing pipelines between tactical devices and enterprise cloud systems.
- Configure, scale, deploy, and maintain TAK Server instances across on-premise, edge, and cloud environments.
- Build low-latency APIs and data ingestion pipelines for multi-source sensor and intelligence feeds.
- Translate operational mission requirements into scalable technical solutions with engineering teams, product managers, and government stakeholders.
- Implement automated CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and testing frameworks for edge-deployed mission software.
- Troubleshoot tactical network, protocol, and integration issues across heterogeneous environments.
- Travel up to 25% to customer sites, test events, and field integration exercises.
Requirements
- Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering and systems integration experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with the TAK protocol ecosystem, including Cursor on Target messaging, TAK Server configuration and management, and ATAK, WinTAK, or MILTAK integration.
- Strong proficiency in at least two of Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, C++, and Python.
- Experience with network protocols, real-time messaging systems, and data serialization formats including XML, JSON, and Protocol Buffers.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or GitLab and containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Preferred experience includes ATAK Plugin SDK development, tactical data links, defense geospatial formats, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, STIG compliance, and Risk Management Framework standards.
