Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, test, demonstrate, and maintain embedded software applications for LOCOTROL locomotive control products.
- Develop and maintain software components, systems, and networks using C and C++.
- Design and implement embedded software from requirements analysis through production and commercial deployment.
- Integrate next-generation platforms with Remote Control Locomotive, Tower Control, and Distributed Power products.
- Maintain and enhance software deployed in existing embedded products and systems.
- Ensure application development meets product specifications and system functional and interface requirements.
- Design, implement, and test software against quality, performance, reliability, and safety specifications.
- Participate in design and code reviews and develop software requirements, design, and architecture documentation.
- Provide technical mentoring to more junior software engineers.
- Collaborate with product managers, systems engineers, architects, test teams, engineering teams, customers, and partners throughout development and deployment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of embedded software development experience in RTOS and bare-metal environments.
- Experience writing multiprocess and multithreaded programs using C or C++.
- Strong understanding of software design methods and architectural approaches, plus knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Experience with DDS, Yocto, C++23, CMake, GTest, automated or CI environments, DOORS Next, Visual Studio, Dev Containers, GitLab, and GitLab CI.
- Experience with Agile software development environments, including Scrum and/or Kanban.
- Experience with ColdFire, ARM, and/or PowerPC microprocessors in C/C++ environments.
- Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, RS232/RS422, HDLC, SPI, I2C, and CAN communication protocols.
- Experience with embedded RTOS platforms, including Green Hills INTEGRITY.
- Experience with SVN or Git software configuration management tools.
- Experience with software analysis tools such as Klocwork, Understand, or PC-Lint and unit testing tools such as VectorCAST.
- Experience designing high-reliability, safety-critical, redundant, and fail-safe products.
- Experience with IEC 61508, DO-178B, Cenelec-50128, or similar industry standards.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
