Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and architecture for the Agent Access Policies framework.
- Design distributed, event-driven systems for throughput, reliability, consistency, and failure handling at scale.
- Turn vaguely specified platform problems into clear, modular technical designs.
- Define standards for designing, building, operating, and reviewing the platform.
- Collaborate with technical leads across teams to align major architectural decisions.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
- Drive improvements in technical debt, CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, and support processes.
- Partner with Product and Design to own customer outcomes and platform evolution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience and a proven Principal- or Staff-level individual contributor track record.
- Extensive experience designing and operating high-scale, reliable backend and event-driven systems.
- Experience owning ambiguous technical problems and driving them to clear technical direction.
- Experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies.
- Strong understanding of web authentication, authorization, and secure handling of sensitive user data.
- Deep expertise building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
- Experience making architectural decisions with lasting organizational impact.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: experience with identity, authorization, or IAM protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, or SAML.
- Preferred: familiarity with agentic tooling, MCP, or LLM-facing design.
- Preferred: experience leading meaningful changes in AI adoption, developer tooling, or engineering culture.
