Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship production LLM applications and agentic systems from data and inference through serving, APIs, and product integration.
- Build multi-agent and multi-step workflows using tool calling, sequential handoffs, scheduled workflows, and DAG-based orchestration.
- Develop prompt and context engineering practices including structured prompts, output schemas, exclusion rules, and context-window management.
- Build retrieval-augmented generation using chunking, embeddings, hybrid search, reranking, vector indexes, and retrieval-quality evaluation.
- Own production evaluation, monitoring, tracing, drift detection, prompt and version management, champion/challenger promotion, and retraining.
- Optimize cost and latency through caching, model routing, batching, streaming, and appropriate model selection.
- Implement prompt-injection defenses, tool-misuse and data-exfiltration protections, PII handling, audit logging, and authentication.
- Expose AI capabilities through reliable, versioned, authenticated production services and APIs.
- Partner with product, data science, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable systems and communicate technical tradeoffs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Statistics, or a related field with 5 years of AI, ML, or software engineering experience, or a related master's degree with 3 or more years of experience.
- At least 4 years of Python and 2 years of SQL for querying and preparing data.
- Hands-on experience with PySpark and DataFrame APIs on a large-scale distributed platform.
- At least 3 years building machine learning models, including training, tuning, and evaluation.
- At least 2 years shipping production LLM applications using prompt engineering, RAG over vector indexes, and deterministic logic.
- At least 2 years using GenAI frameworks and tools such as LangChain or equivalent, Anthropic, OpenAI or Hugging Face APIs, and vector databases.
- At least 1 year building and orchestrating multi-agent or multi-step systems.
- Experience exposing AI systems as production services and APIs with attention to latency, reliability, versioning, and authentication.
- At least 2 years operating AI or ML systems in production with evaluation, monitoring, tracing, cost, and latency management.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, production logging and monitoring, secrets handling, and safe rollbacks.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication, and judgment for probabilistic systems.
- Preferred experience with Databricks Model Serving, Unity Catalog, Vector Search, MLflow, Databricks Asset Bundles, MCP servers and tools, conversational AI assistants, A2A orchestration, agent memory, model fine-tuning or distillation, Microsoft Azure, App Service, Functions, Key Vault, ADO Pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes, and AI-assisted development tools.
- A public GitHub profile or project portfolio is encouraged.
