Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery, and architecture of enterprise-scale API gateway, edge routing, and developer acceleration capabilities.
- Build and scale high-throughput Java/Kotlin backend engines for request orchestration, multi-tenant isolation, and API-first services.
- Set technical direction for initiatives involving vanity URLs, JWT authentication flows, and cross-service proxying.
- Evolve deployment infrastructure using ArgoCD, Helm, Kubernetes, and containerized orchestration.
- Own foundational features from design through production while improving observability, rate limiting, and concurrency management.
- Integrate backend microservices with UI components and resolve CORS and distributed edge proxy requirements.
- Produce RFCs and architectural designs, align globally distributed teams, and mentor engineers through design reviews and pair programming.
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience in enterprise-scale, high-throughput platform or data-centric environments.
- Deep expertise in Java and/or Kotlin and distributed systems internals.
- Experience delivering API-first infrastructure, API gateways such as Traefik, and edge routing solutions handling sustained traffic loads of 2K+ requests per second.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized deployments, complex CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and ArgoCD.
- Experience with event-driven architecture, real-time data processing, and complex database transaction scopes at scale.
- Experience using modern AI tools and concepts, including agentic programming patterns and LLM-assisted workflows.
- Strong technical communication skills, including writing structured RFCs and architectural designs.
- Preferred: enterprise-scale platform strategy experience and familiarity with hybrid or cloud-agnostic infrastructure.
- Preferred: willingness to work across React, Python, or Go when appropriate.
- Preferred: mentoring experience and comfort collaborating asynchronously across distributed teams.
