Responsibilities
- Design and build core AI system architecture spanning multiple product areas with an emphasis on coherence and reuse.
- Define evaluation frameworks, testing standards, model-behavior delivery practices, and shared infrastructure for multiple teams.
- Identify and resolve systemic engineering gaps proactively before they affect the wider organization.
- Own and deliver the team’s hardest and most ambiguous technical problems end to end.
- Build and ship conversational agents, deep learning models, and personalization systems using novel technical approaches.
- Improve AI and machine learning systems and services to drive behavior change and sustained metabolic health improvements.
- Provide individual contributor technical leadership through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship without direct reports.
- Partner with product, engineering leadership, and clinical and research teams to translate ambiguous goals into technical designs and implementations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of industry experience developing AI and machine learning systems in production.
- Experience leading technical initiatives spanning multiple teams or systems and setting organizational engineering standards.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, system design, code review, and evaluation infrastructure for LLM-based systems.
- Experience scaling production applications using LLMs, Generative AI, advanced prompt engineering, RAG, and iterative AI evaluations.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical decisions beyond the candidate’s own project.
- Proficiency in Python and software engineering best practices.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with Voice AI or specialized language models, including VLMs and multimodal systems, is preferred.
