Responsibilities
- Design and execute enterprise-grade performance-testing strategies, frameworks, tooling, and success criteria for payment-processing services.
- Identify performance bottlenecks across legacy and modern service layers and drive targeted optimization.
- Instrument and validate services running on Java, Oracle, Tomcat, WebSphere, PostgreSQL, and OpenShift.
- Build and maintain backend services for card-network integration using Java, PostgreSQL, and OpenShift Container Platform.
- Modernize, migrate, and re-platform services from legacy infrastructure to cloud-native environments.
- Develop PCI data-purging pipelines and event-driven services supporting token removal, event consumption, data lifecycle, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, technical planning, and communication of performance findings to stakeholders.
- Serve as a flexible senior contributor across engineering workstreams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in Java, is required.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, specifically Oracle and/or PostgreSQL, is required.
- Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments such as OpenShift or Kubernetes is required.
- Experience with enterprise performance testing strategy, tooling selection, execution, profiling, load testing, and bottleneck resolution is required.
- Experience designing performance test frameworks from scratch and operating with minimal guidance is required.
- Digital payments, card processing, or financial-services technology experience is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of PCI compliance, secure data handling, event-driven architecture, and OpenShift-based eventing is preferred.
- Experience with PGLogical or PostgreSQL logical replication, GitHub Copilot or Claude, bank or card-network integrations, or segregated development environments is a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, with specified specialized training or progressively responsible technology experience accepted in lieu of missing college years.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in large, matrixed program environments are required.
