Responsibilities
- Collaborate with UX, engineering, and product management partners to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
- Design and implement enterprise data warehouse architectures, including star schemas and cloud-native warehouses.
- Create optimized reusable analytical datasets and implement data governance, security, and role-based access controls.
- Build and maintain complex data pipeline workflows using orchestration and DataOps practices.
- Optimize cloud storage and compute costs through partitioning, clustering, and storage-tiering strategies.
- Manage retail omnichannel data and implement sales, inventory, and supply-chain logic.
- Define and guide a team of data engineers executing a one- to three-year data strategy.
- Create reusable foundational code, enterprise tools, architecture diagrams, API specifications, and shared data contracts.
- Automate infrastructure, monitoring, testing, destructive testing, and engineering workflows with custom code or scripts.
- Create dashboards, logging, alerting, production responses, and Service Level Objectives.
- Identify and remediate unsecured code, review performance and capacity, and support security reviews.
- Provide production application support, monitor SLOs, and triage high-priority issues and outages.
- Work with vendors, open-source communities, and product teams to implement software enhancements.
- Lead learning activities, communities of practice, and adoption of modern software design and development practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Seven years of experience in a related occupation.
- Five years of experience designing enterprise data warehouse architectures, including star schemas.
- Five years of experience with BigQuery, cloud-native warehouses, analytical datasets, data governance and security, role-based access controls, SQL, Python, OLAP databases, Google Cloud Platform data, and complex data pipeline workflows.
- Experience querying cloud-native databases such as BigQuery and on-premises databases such as Db2.
- Experience optimizing BigQuery queries, including slot management, and troubleshooting query performance.
- Experience with retail omnichannel integration and retail sales, inventory, and supply-chain logic.
- Experience defining and guiding data engineering teams and translating complex business data problems into technical solutions.
- Experience with CI/CD toolchains, Git-based version control systems, and NoSQL databases.
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally permitted to work in the United States.
