Senior Software Engineer
CoStar GroupResponsibilities
- Own the engineering design, development, testing, production deployment, fixes, and improvements for medium-sized projects.
- Build and maintain high-performance, distributed backend search and discovery services using Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
- Solve complex, loosely defined technical problems and write, review, and maintain clear production-ready code and documentation.
- Design scalable solutions for high-traffic customer-facing services while optimizing performance, maintainability, reliability, and security.
- Identify security vulnerabilities in code and code reviews and contribute to application-security and technology standards.
- Contribute to system-health and technical-debt backlogs and collaborate with Lead Engineers and Tech Leads on process and system improvements.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional Product, Design, and Technology teams to align solutions with customer and business needs.
- Mentor more junior engineers.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience with C# and .NET, plus Elasticsearch or OpenSearch for distributed backend services.
- Experience designing software solutions for scale and working with high-traffic customer-facing services.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and familiarity with cloud design patterns.
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Familiarity with modern application-security practices, including OWASP, and shift-left testing.
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Experience collaborating with Tech Leads, mentoring junior engineers, and working in cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: hands-on AWS experience with ECS, EKS, Bedrock, IAM, and networking; production AI/LLM systems experience; TypeScript and Node.js for AWS Lambda and CDK; and AWS or other cloud-platform certification.
