Responsibilities
- Build, patch, test, customize, and optimize Linux userspace packages for Rocky Linux-based products.
- Remediate CVEs in customer-facing RPM packages and improve package-building tooling and automation.
- Develop automated tests for specific software and full-system behavior.
- Participate in architecture, planning, implementation, proofs of concept, documentation, and minimum viable product development.
- Support services before launch through system design consulting, platform and framework development, capacity planning, launch reviews, and deployment across servers, virtual machines, and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, open-source community, and sales teams while using GitHub or GitLab for development.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Linux Engineer, Linux Development Engineer, or software developer focused on the Linux operating system.
- At least four years of experience supporting Linux and at least two years of experience building Linux packages.
- Understanding of Linux OS packaging, including RPM or DEB, and familiarity with CVE remediation for older code versions.
- Deep understanding of Linux internals and how operating-system packages interact.
- Experience with Linux administration, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools and processes.
- Familiarity with Ansible playbooks and/or DoD STIG, SCAP, or RADIX processes.
- Proficiency with Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, REST APIs, OpenAPI, and HTTP GET/POST.
- Familiarity with Python, Go, Kubernetes, and other engineering tools and technologies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team and demonstrate problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced startup environment and work with agile methodologies.
