Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy embedded software in C and C++ on RTOS platforms for Garmin consumer electronics.
  • Research fundamental problems and implement sensor-based algorithm solutions.
  • Design software systems and modules, review architectures, and improve functionality and performance.
  • Build hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure, integration pipelines, regression tests, and diagnostic tools.
  • Provide technical leadership through project planning, feasibility assessment, design reviews, and peer assessments.
  • Mentor less experienced Software Engineers and contribute to technical research and process improvements.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs involving power consumption, cost, system constraints, reliability, and time to market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mastered proficiency writing software in C and C++ on RTOS.
  • Experience using Python for visualization and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency designing well-architected software systems and implementing algorithmic solutions.
  • Ability to lead complex software projects, decompose requirements, assess designs, and provide technical guidance.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Preferred experience with performance metrics, data analysis, statistical methods, embedded debugging, automation and testing, hardware-in-the-loop, regression testing, GoogleTest, unittest, Jenkins, or Zuul.
  • Preferred familiarity with sensor fusion, time series analysis, Kalman filtering, digital signal processing, inertial sensors, magnetic sensors, barometric pressure sensors, and Java for backend or server-side systems.
