Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, well-designed, well-tested, idiomatic Python software
- Own and contribute to products spanning multiple codebases, including server, Kubernetes, desktop, web-service, utility, framework, tool, and production-process software
- Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team
- Provide technical leadership at Canonical and within open-source communities
- Debug issues and produce high-quality fixes
- Contribute to comprehensive technical documentation
- Help build a thriving open-source community and ensure seamless software operations at scale
- Work remotely with global travel twice yearly for company events
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university, or a compelling alternative path alongside an undergraduate Computer Science or STEM degree requirement
- Experience writing thoroughly designed, modern, maintainable Python
- Experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
- Professional written and spoken English with strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently, deliver to schedule, and collaborate professionally with colleagues, partners, and open-source communities
- Ability to travel twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks
- Preferred experience with LXD, Docker, Kubernetes, build systems, toolchains, and cross-compilation
- Preferred additional programming experience with Golang, Rust, C, or C++
- Preferred experience in quality and test engineering, web or Flutter frontend development, REST and gRPC APIs, SQL and NoSQL data stores, public clouds, OpenStack, Debian/Ubuntu packaging, systems programming, scalable web services, performance engineering, or security
