Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for backend and full-stack content platforms supporting content acquisition, enrichment, curation, and delivery at scale.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering leaders to define domain strategy, clarify requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and translate goals into scalable capabilities.
- Design cloud-native AWS applications, low-level systems, REST and gRPC APIs, data models, and distributed highly available content services.
- Drive technical standards for scalable, maintainable solutions, automated testing, production readiness, deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence across multiple teams.
- Guide complex architecture decisions and execution plans to improve platform reliability, performance, extensibility, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Use data, observability signals, experimentation, and metrics to guide technical decisions and improve content and platform capabilities.
- Guide the safe integration and operation of AI/ML-enabled content features, including technical guardrails, evaluation approaches, and responsible production practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of multi-service or domain-level content platforms, including system design, API design, data modeling, testing strategy, deployment, and ongoing operational health.
- Deep expertise designing and operating cloud-native applications on AWS, including service-to-service communication patterns such as gRPC and a variety of datastores and caches.
- Experience with Redis or Valkey, Cassandra, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows for design exploration, implementation, debugging, analysis, and developer productivity, with sound judgment regarding safe usage.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
- Preferred experience defining and evolving multi-service content platform architectures with clear API contracts, domain models, reusable data strategies, and future extensibility.
- Preferred experience providing technical guidance for full-stack, operator-facing, internal-tool, user-interface, and partner-facing capabilities.
- Preferred experience driving automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, production readiness, reduced operational toil, data-informed experimentation, and AI/ML-enabled content capabilities such as classification, ranking, generation support, or quality evaluation.
