Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for scalable content platforms and backend services across Expedia Group.
- Design AWS cloud-native applications, low-level systems, REST and gRPC APIs, and data models for distributed, highly available services.
- Guide multiple teams through architecture decisions, technical tradeoffs, implementation plans, and engineering standards.
- Promote automated testing, production readiness, deployment practices, operational excellence, reliability, performance, and developer productivity.
- Use data, observability signals, experimentation, and metrics to improve content systems and user and developer experiences.
- Guide the safe production integration and operation of AI/ML-enabled content capabilities, including technical guardrails and evaluation approaches.
- Provide technical guidance for full-stack, operator-facing, partner-facing, and internal-tool capabilities when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of multi-service or domain-level content platforms, including system design, API design, data modeling, testing strategy, deployment, and ongoing operational health.
- Deep experience designing and operating AWS cloud-native applications, including service-to-service communication patterns such as gRPC.
- Experience with Redis/Valkey, Cassandra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other datastores and caches.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows for design, implementation, debugging, analysis, and developer productivity, with sound judgment regarding safe use.
- Bilingual French and English communication skills.
- Preferred experience defining and evolving multi-service content platform architectures, API contracts, domain models, reusable data strategies, and AI/ML-enabled content capabilities such as classification, ranking, generation support, or quality evaluation.
