Base Salary
$131k - $237k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design embedded software architectures and implement C/C++ software for airborne and missile defense systems.
- Develop, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and debug embedded software and firmware systems.
- Perform software requirements analysis, hardware compatibility analysis, peer reviews, unit testing, and subsystem and distributed-network integration.
- Develop software tools, harnesses, infrastructure, and products supporting integrated solutions and system maintenance.
- Apply software engineering standards and practices across the full software development life cycle.
- Use DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation to support software delivery.
- Communicate directly with customers, end users, internal stakeholders, and engineering team members.
- Recommend and implement technologies, tools, standards, workflows, and AI-enabled development capabilities.
- Lead and mentor team members while contributing to complex project delivery and technical strategy execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- 12+ years of relevant technical experience, or 10+ years with a related master’s degree.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
- Relevant experience developing, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting embedded software or embedded-adjacent applications interfacing with embedded systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
- Experience with a real-time operating system such as VxWorks, Integrity, or FreeRTOS.
- Proficiency with embedded processors and microcontrollers such as ARM Cortex or RISC-V.
- Experience with embedded debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or GDB.
- Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation.
- Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
- Preferred experience includes 5+ years with real-time embedded systems in defense, aerospace, or safety-critical platforms.
- Preferred qualifications include guided weapons or flight controls experience, large-scale deterministic embedded systems experience, Docker or Kubernetes familiarity, MBSE familiarity, regulated or mission-critical environment experience, DO-178C or MIL-STD-882e experience, Jira experience, Git or GitLab experience, and mentoring experience.
Benefits
- Pay range is $131,300.00-$237,350.00.
- The role is based in or requires relocation to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
- The position requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Department of Defense security clearance.
