Responsibilities
- Measure power, performance, and performance-per-watt across SoC and system platforms, particularly Windows on ARM devices.
- Characterize idle, active, and low-power system states for battery-life scenarios such as productivity, web browsing, conferencing, video streaming, and Modern Standby.
- Analyze power telemetry, firmware traces, and operating-system metrics to identify bottlenecks and regressions.
- Build and scale automated power measurement infrastructure using data acquisition systems, telemetry parsers, and ETL pipelines.
- Collaborate with hardware architecture, BIOS/firmware, operating-system, and driver teams to enable and tune power features from pre-silicon modeling through post-silicon bring-up.
- Create visualizations and reports on product health trends and recommend architectural or software optimizations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with a bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent, in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of low-power modes, P-states, C-states, S0ix/Modern Standby, DVFS, package power limits, and thermal throttling.
- Experience using power tools on Windows/Linux platforms, including WPA, HWInfo, ETL, Xperf, and PowerCfg.
- Understanding of SoC architecture, including CPU, memory, I/O subsystems, BIOS/UEFI, and EC firmware.
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for test automation and data parsing.
- Ability to analyze latency, throughput, and utilization metrics and balance power-performance trade-offs.
- Preferred experience with multimedia or display hardware offload pipelines, scalable lab infrastructure, databases, ETL pipelines, AI/ML anomaly detection, SoC validation tools, thermal chambers, high-resolution power analyzers, battery modeling, or energy-efficiency benchmarking.
