Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate data platform components for streaming ingestion and MPP query and serving.
- Deliver data platform solutions used by teams and products across Atlassian.
- Own production operational excellence, including reliability, performance tuning, cost, data quality, and observability.
- Address complex architecture challenges and drive architectural standards across projects.
- Lead code reviews and documentation and resolve complex, high-risk bugs.
- Partner across engineering teams on initiatives spanning multiple projects.
- Mentor more junior team members.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong distributed-systems and data-engineering depth.
- Hands-on experience with data platform systems, including Flink or Spark for streaming and ingestion and/or StarRocks, Trino, Apache Pinot, or Apache Doris for MPP query engines.
- Experience operating high-scale data platform systems in production, including reliability, performance tuning, and data quality or observability.
- Strong coding skills in Java, Scala, or Python.
- Experience with cloud data infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
- Open-source contributions to relevant projects are a strong positive.
