Responsibilities

  • Build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems in a DevSecOps environment.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to build highly available and cost-effective systems with high uptime.
  • Resolve cloud operations trouble tickets, develop and run scripts, and troubleshoot systems.
  • Create auto-remediation tools and scripts and establish end-to-end monitoring and alerting for critical systems.
  • Build infrastructure-as-code patterns using Terraform, cloud CLI scripting, and cloud SDK programming.
  • Participate in a 24/7 first-responder team using a follow-the-sun model for incident and problem management.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including GKE, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, and GCE.
  • Monitor and measure systems against availability metrics and implement fixes and preventative measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding, such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent job experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in software engineering, systems administration, database administration, or networking.
  • At least 1 year of experience developing or administering software in the public cloud, preferably GCP or AWS.
  • Experience monitoring infrastructure and application uptime and availability.
  • Experience with Python, Bash, Java, Go, JavaScript, and/or Node.js.
  • Cross-functional knowledge of systems, storage, networking, security, and databases.
  • System administration and automation experience with Linux/Windows, Terraform, Chef, Ansible, and/or containers such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and practices.
  • Cloud certification is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
