Responsibilities
- Own one or more critical components/services end-to-end.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of your components including design, implementation, and monitoring.
- Create detailed technical designs for complex systems.
- Write production-grade code daily.
- Operate the infrastructure your components run on.
- Drive cost optimization for owned components.
- Build and optimize systems handling high throughput and large data volumes.
- Design and implement monitoring and debugging capabilities.
- Lead incident response and conduct post-mortems.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure operational soundness.
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for your components.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.
- Execute projects in an agile manner.
Requirements
- 4-5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production environments.
- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven track record of owning significant components or services.
- Ability to create detailed technical designs.
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one modern programming language.
- Deep hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Extensive experience with microservices handling high throughput.
- Strong background in designing and running data processing pipelines.
- Expert understanding of observability metrics and logging.
- Significant experience with incident response and debugging.
- Hands-on experience managing infrastructure and capacity planning.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing infrastructure costs.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems.
