Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications for naval and military systems.
- Translate functional specifications and high-level requirements into defined software capabilities.
- Develop and update Software Requirements Descriptions, Software Design Descriptions, and Software Test Plans.
- Maintain bug-tracking records, software user manuals, and documentation supporting design and code status.
- Provide in-field support, with some travel required.
- Perform work according to the Quality Management System and applicable health and safety procedures.
- Help define requirements for complex naval systems and communicate technical solutions to project management and development teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1–3+ years of software development or related technical experience.
- Proficiency in one or more of C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Ability to apply software engineering principles to routine development and debugging tasks.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers and technical staff and communicate technical solutions effectively.
- Familiarity with version control systems, software design, debugging tools, and basic testing methodologies.
- Experience with real-time operating systems, particularly VxWorks and Linux.
- Exposure to servo drive applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and good verbal and written communication skills.
- VHDL programming experience for FPGAs is considered an asset.
