Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications for naval and military systems.
  • Translate functional specifications and high-level requirements into defined software capabilities.
  • Develop and update Software Requirements Descriptions, Software Design Descriptions, and Software Test Plans.
  • Maintain bug-tracking records, software user manuals, and documentation supporting design and code status.
  • Provide in-field support, with some travel required.
  • Perform work according to the Quality Management System and applicable health and safety procedures.
  • Help define requirements for complex naval systems and communicate technical solutions to project management and development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 1–3+ years of software development or related technical experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more of C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Ability to apply software engineering principles to routine development and debugging tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and technical staff and communicate technical solutions effectively.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, software design, debugging tools, and basic testing methodologies.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, particularly VxWorks and Linux.
  • Exposure to servo drive applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • VHDL programming experience for FPGAs is considered an asset.
