Base Salary
$205k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs powering ML-driven features
- Integrate and orchestrate ML models and third-party ML APIs, including LLM providers, recommendation engines, and embedding services, into production systems
- Build data pipelines and infrastructure for model serving, feature storage, and real-time personalization
- Collaborate with product, mobile, design, and data teams to turn ML capabilities into user-facing features
- Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of ML-adjacent backend systems
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented production code
- Document architectural decisions, implementation details, and project handoff materials
- Provide input on feature scope and sequencing to support successful delivery
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development
- At least 2 years of experience in-house as a Machine Learning Engineer
- Demonstrated experience shipping ML-powered features or products in production
- Working knowledge of embeddings, classification, recommendation systems, and LLMs
- Hands-on experience integrating ML APIs and services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Hugging Face, or AWS SageMaker
- Proficiency in Python or another backend language such as Go, Java, or TypeScript/Node.js
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerized deployments
- Familiarity with vector databases, feature stores, and streaming systems relevant to ML workloads
- Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
- Preferred experience with high-growth startups, LLM application development, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, conversational AI, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, production readiness for ML systems, recommendation systems, personalization engines, or content-ranking algorithms
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and delivery skills
