Responsibilities
- Develop scientific software and hardware-control interfaces for teams across IonQ.
- Design and implement web-based tooling, including information-dense dashboards, system telemetry, and calibration tools.
- Build data-intensive applications that manage complex states and frequent streaming updates.
- Create interactive charts and interfaces for large datasets while addressing rendering performance and visualization trade-offs.
- Gather requirements from users across diverse technical and functional backgrounds and translate workflows into graphical tools.
- Collaborate with backend engineers and the broader quantum tools and software team to establish best practices and stronger processes.
- Apply and help establish strict testing discipline.
Requirements
- Prior front-end development experience with TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and React.
- Deep experience with a modern framework such as React, Vue, Svelte, or Solid.
- Experience building interfaces around streaming data, including frequent updates, subscriptions, connection failures, and system-status feedback.
- Experience building interactive charts and working with large datasets.
- Ability to diagnose rendering bottlenecks and reason about plot update frequency, virtualization, and SVG, Canvas, and WebGL trade-offs.
- Sound interaction and visual design judgment for information-dense operator tools, including information hierarchy, accessibility, and keyboard workflows.
- Ability to work across teams, translate abstract workflows into concrete graphical tools, and collaborate with backend engineers in a highly technical environment.
