Base Salary
$251k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain highly scalable backend services for Waymo’s Marketplace.
- Enable users to hail and control Waymo’s autonomous vehicles through critical user-facing flows.
- Ensure high reliability, low latency, and fault tolerance for production infrastructure.
- Architect APIs and distributed systems serving internal and external partners.
- Collaborate with mobile engineers, product managers, UX designers and researchers, and data scientists to deliver new ride-hailing features.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages.
- Experience building backend distributed systems.
- Preferred: production experience with C++.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: experience developing low-latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with ride-hailing or marketplace consumer platforms.
- Preferred: experience at another ride-hailing or marketplace company.
- Preferred: strong cross-functional collaboration skills and interest in partnering with mobile and frontend teams.
