Staff Software Engineer, Developer Experience

Responsibilities
- Set long-term technical direction and architecture across local development, build tooling, shared libraries, testing frameworks, and the developer portal.
- Design, build, and ship cross-cutting Developer Experience platform solutions used across hundreds of services.
- Create self-service golden paths and paved roads that reduce friction for product engineering teams.
- Partner with Product and engineers to identify workflow friction and develop a prioritized, measurable roadmap.
- Drive technical alignment with AI, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure partner teams.
- Partner with customer-facing teams to align developer platform solutions with business and customer needs.
- Raise technical standards through design reviews, mentorship, code pairing, and developing engineers into technical leaders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in at least one general-purpose language such as Kotlin, Java, Go, or TypeScript, with comfort working across several languages.
- Strong experience with build systems and dependency management at scale, including Gradle, Maven, or npm, and migrations across hundreds of services.
- Track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple teams from problem definition through delivery and adoption.
- Experience designing developer-facing products such as CLIs, SDKs, shared libraries, testing frameworks, or portals.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic development practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical strategy and design documentation and influencing without authority.
- Experience with internal developer portals or service catalogs such as Backstage is preferred.
- Experience building or integrating LLM-powered developer tools, coding agents, or MCP servers is preferred.
- Experience with containerized or cloud-based development environments such as Dev Containers, Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS ECS is preferred.
- Experience defining and instrumenting developer productivity metrics such as DORA, SPACE, and build and test analytics is preferred.
