Responsibilities
- Own the platform engineering strategy, roadmap, and delivery outcomes for scalable self-service infrastructure and developer productivity.
- Drive adoption of CI/CD templates, reusable modules, golden paths, standardized environments, developer portals, and APIs.
- Establish reusable, versioned Infrastructure as Code frameworks using Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation.
- Architect and manage multi-account AWS environments with governance, security guardrails, and automated application-team onboarding.
- Implement self-service provisioning for infrastructure, pipelines, and services through developer portals such as Backstage.
- Build centralized observability for logs, metrics, and traces using CloudWatch, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.
- Define and enforce platform standards for security, compliance, cost optimization, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with application teams to onboard them to the platform and improve developer experience.
- Provide technical leadership for cloud-native patterns including microservices, event-driven architectures, serverless, and container platforms.
- Lead reliability initiatives involving SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, resilience engineering, platform risks, and dependencies.
- Define scalable data and integration patterns with architects and establish KPIs for platform adoption, productivity, deployment efficiency, and operational maturity.
- Mentor platform engineers and DevOps teams and serve as a bridge between infrastructure, security, and application teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or Business/Technology Management, or relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure, with a focus on building internal platforms at scale.
- Deep expertise in AWS services including EC2, Lambda, EKS, ECS, S3, VPC, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation, including reusable modules and frameworks.
- Experience with developer portals and self-service tooling such as Backstage or equivalent platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of CI/CD design and standardization using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS-native services.
- Understanding of cloud security practices including IAM, KMS, secrets management, network isolation, and compliance enforcement.
- Experience managing multi-account AWS environments with centralized governance, logging, and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with Datadog, ELK, CloudWatch, and SLO-driven monitoring practices.
- Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes/EKS containerization and orchestration.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Ability to influence engineering teams, design scalable infrastructure abstractions, solve complex problems, and communicate platform strategy to technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to learn new technologies and adapt platform strategy to changing enterprise needs.
