Base Salary
$105k - $135k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop software that imports, analyzes, transforms, and generates complex 3D CAD geometry.
- Generate and validate composite production tooling geometry, including surfaces, offsets, splits, boundaries, flanges, features, machining allowances, and trim definitions.
- Build automated manufacturability checks to identify geometry, tooling, and process risks.
- Create internal engineering tools that reduce manual work and produce consistent, traceable manufacturing outputs.
- Integrate geometry-processing workflows with CAD, CAM, CNC machining, and downstream manufacturing systems.
- Work in factory and tooling-design environments to connect digital models with physical tools.
- Expand manufacturing capabilities through CTE compensation, springback-model integration, automated recipe generation, and CNC trim-programming automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field, or 5+ years of equivalent practical experience.
- Strong software-engineering experience building reliable software for engineers, operators, customers, or production systems.
- Ability to take ambiguous technical problems from concept through implementation and deployment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills involving physical-system constraints.
- Clear communication and close collaboration with subject-matter experts outside software engineering.
- Experience with computational geometry, geometric modeling, CAD/CAM, computer graphics, robotics, or engineering simulation is preferred.
- Experience processing B-reps, surfaces, curves, meshes, point clouds, or solid models is preferred.
- Experience with geometry operations such as offsets, intersections, projections, trimming, tessellation, topology repair, feature recognition, or path planning is preferred.
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, C++, or another language suitable for high-performance engineering software is preferred.
- Experience integrating software with CAD, CAM, PLM, CNC, metrology, or manufacturing-execution systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with composites manufacturing, cure and trim tooling, CNC machining, aerospace structures, factory automation, or 3D printing is preferred.
- A portfolio should be submitted with the resume.
