Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve WordPress websites, including custom Gutenberg themes, templates, blocks, and content features.
- Implement web features, resolve bugs, test changes, and contribute to regular releases under the guidance of the Lead Web Developer.
- Write maintainable HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP while following coding standards and security practices.
- Translate design, product, and stakeholder requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Support front-end development using JavaScript and frameworks such as React.
- Work with SQL-based databases and structured content used by WordPress and related platforms.
- Use Git for version control, code reviews, and developer collaboration.
- Perform browser and device checks, accessibility checks, regression testing, and other quality assurance activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, release notes, and implementation notes.
- Learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, and development practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree is required.
- At least 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- Good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Some experience with PHP and WordPress development, or strong evidence of the ability to learn quickly in this area.
- Basic understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
- Familiarity with SQL databases and core web application concepts.
- Interest in building accessible, usable, and reliable web products.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to test work carefully before release.
- Collaborative approach and clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Willingness to learn new technology stacks, frameworks, and development practices.
- Preferred experience includes WordPress theme or plugin development, Gutenberg blocks, Advanced Custom Fields, React, Angular, Vue, TypeScript, GitHub, testing tools, accessibility standards, responsive design, cross-browser testing, REST APIs, third-party integrations, and data-driven websites.
- A computer science or related degree, coding bootcamp qualification, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
