Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain robotics middleware and application frameworks in modern C++ on embedded Linux.
- Own significant robotics platform components from technical design through implementation, validation, deployment, and fleet operation.
- Develop instrumentation, benchmarks, logging, tracing, and fleet-level metrics to improve performance, reliability, and system health.
- Diagnose complex system-level issues involving concurrency, scheduling, interprocess communication, networking, and constrained compute resources.
- Translate safety and reliability requirements into software behavior, interfaces, and verification strategies.
- Collaborate with autonomy, systems, software, and hardware engineering teams on architecture, risk assessment, failure analysis, and fault handling.
- Lead technical design and code reviews, contribute to engineering standards and documentation, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant production experience with modern C++ such as C++17 or newer.
- Experience developing and debugging systems software in embedded Linux environments.
- Strong understanding of multithreaded programming, concurrency, synchronization, interprocess communication, and systems-level software development.
- Experience designing latency-sensitive, safety-related, real-time, or high-reliability systems and optimizing embedded software.
- Experience independently owning complex software components through design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, written communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience includes robotics or autonomous-vehicle middleware, NVIDIA Jetson, Linux internals, fault-tolerant or safety-related software, distributed systems, networking, RPC frameworks, serialization technologies, telemetry, observability, health monitoring, and embedded hardware integration.
