Base Salary
$168k - $247k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and own onboard components for process management, health monitoring, configuration management, and message passing.
- Own the C++ and Python build system and ROS2 middleware layer, including cross-compilation for Jetson targets.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and regression-testing infrastructure.
- Build and manage parameterization systems covering schema definition, validation, migration, and deployment.
- Create robotics logging, plotting, visualization, and debugging tools.
- Support software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop development workflows with the simulation team.
- Define reliability standards for onboard software, including watchdogs, failover, and graceful degradation.
- Own and define a critical infrastructure layer for the Autonomy Software team.
Requirements
- Prior experience at a robotics company in a similar infrastructure role.
- Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS2, LCM, eCal, or Apex.AI.
- Experience with build systems and package managers including CMake, Bazel, Nix, or Conan.
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson and JetPack.
- Experience with robotics logging and visualization tools such as RViz, Foxglove, Rerun, or Plotly.
- Strong C++ and Python skills with systems-level debugging experience.
- Experience with compiler and build-system internals, including LLVM, linker behavior, and optimization passes.
- BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, or a related field.
- Experience designing fault-tolerant systems for safety-critical applications is preferred.
- Open-source robotics tooling contributions are preferred.
- Experience with deterministic replay or time-travel debugging for robotics is preferred.
- Familiarity with DO-178C or similar certification-aware development processes is preferred.
- Experience with Nix for reproducible robotics builds is preferred.
- Understanding of process supervision tradeoffs and DDS or middleware debugging under real-time constraints on embedded hardware is preferred.
