Responsibilities

  • Design and build Aalyria’s centralized observability platform for metrics, logging, and distributed tracing.
  • Define and manage SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for core production products.
  • Partner with software engineers to establish observability best practices, templates, documentation, and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and management of the observability stack using infrastructure as code and GitOps.
  • Provide visibility into Kubernetes clusters and GCP and AWS environments.
  • Lead monitoring, alerting, and incident response strategy, including proactive reliability practices and blameless post-mortems.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in an SRE or platform engineering role focused on observability for large-scale distributed compute or network systems.
  • Hands-on experience building, scaling, and managing observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, OpenTelemetry, Tempo, Jaeger, and Honeycomb.
  • Experience using observability tools for performance analysis and debugging of complex distributed systems.
  • Strong production experience with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and GitOps principles, including ArgoCD.
  • Proficiency in a systems programming language, with a strong preference for Go and Python.
  • Experience defining and managing SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for highly available distributed systems.
  • Preferred experience with multi-cloud environments involving GCP and AWS, GitLab CI, Istio or Linkerd, Go and C++ application instrumentation, JVM observability, and Java-based applications.
  • An active Secret clearance or higher is preferred.
