Responsibilities

  • Define quality strategies and executable acceptance criteria across unit, component, integration, API contract, journey, and end-to-end testing.
  • Establish test architecture standards, automation patterns, Page Object Model practices, and shared tooling for development teams.
  • Design shared test infrastructure including data seeding, synthetic data generation, service virtualization, and environment isolation utilities.
  • Define and integrate CI/CD quality gates, optimize test execution and parallelism, and improve pipeline health and duration.
  • Coach and mentor development teams to own maintainable test coverage, testable design, TDD, and quality practices.
  • Identify systemic test coverage gaps, coordinate cross-team improvements, and review team-authored automation code.
  • Facilitate three-amigos, example mapping, design reviews, and quality-focused product development ceremonies.
  • Track escaped defects, mean time to detection, test coverage trends, and DORA metrics while supporting continuous delivery, release automation, feature toggles, and progressive delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with most experience focused on test automation and quality engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement, but 5+ years of experience remains required.
  • Experience influencing testing practices across development teams, mentoring engineers, and improving team-level quality capability.
  • Strong proficiency with Playwright or a similar end-to-end framework and experience defining scalable, maintainable test patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Gherkin, Cucumber, SpecFlow, or equivalent, including facilitating example mapping and three-amigos sessions.
  • Experience with major pipeline platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI; REST and GraphQL testing; and contract testing tools such as Pact.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, or C#, plus experience with synthetic data generation, service virtualization, environment isolation, Git, and trunk-based development.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Delivery, DORA metrics, feature flagging, canary releases, progressive delivery, and short-lived branches.
  • Preferred qualifications include payments, fintech, or regulated-industry experience; PCI-DSS or SOC 2 exposure; security, performance, accessibility, and visual regression testing experience; and AI-assisted testing tools.
