Responsibilities
- Implement kernel-mode and user-mode applications for UniFi Protect device firmware, from bootloader through user-space applications.
- Develop features supporting hardware testing and diagnosis for embedded devices.
- Work closely with EE, Backend, Frontend, Mobile, QA, Factory, and Manufacturing teams.
- Develop software involving Linux Kernel, rootfs, WebSocket, RESTful APIs, and gRPC.
Requirements
- Proficiency in C++ and C, with approximately 99% of the codebase in C++.
- Familiarity with Sigmastar or Ambarella platforms, video/audio streaming and transcoding, and ARM platforms.
- Experience with debuggers such as gdb and strace.
- Embedded Linux software development experience, including Linux drivers and kernel- and user-mode development, is desired.
- Familiarity with shell, Python, or Node.js scripting and Git version control.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is required.
- Fluent written and spoken English is required.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, BeagleBoard, OpenWRT, Buildroot, Yocto, and hardware protocols including GPIO, USB, UART, PWM, flash, SPI, and I2C.
- Ability to work collaboratively, stay self-motivated, handle difficult challenges, and deliver on tight schedules.
