Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve reliability and performance issues across distributed cloud environments and Kubernetes clusters.
- Design and implement automation to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual work, and support scale.
- Develop SLIs, SLOs, observability architecture, runbook automation, and operational processes.
- Partner with platform service teams to define SRE standards, benchmarks, and production qualification automation.
- Collaborate with global SRE counterparts across New Zealand, the United States, and Ireland.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis and create runbooks to prevent recurring issues.
- Support cloud platform infrastructure and maintain high availability for engineering and customer environments.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call roster across three time zones.
Requirements
- Some exposure to SRE, DevOps, or cloud-native infrastructure through internships, projects, coursework, bootcamps, labs, certifications, or prior work.
- Basic hands-on experience with a public cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- BSc in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, self-study, bootcamp training, or demonstrable project work.
- Growing familiarity with cloud-native computing and CNCF technologies.
- Some exposure to Kubernetes; familiarity with Istio, OPA, Prometheus, or Grafana is preferred.
- Comfort with Git and GitOps workflows; familiarity with ArgoCD is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals, command-line navigation, and basic system configuration.
- Some experience with GoLang, Python, or Ruby; Go is preferred.
- Awareness of software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
