Responsibilities
- Design and build complex distributed systems that support products used by millions of users.
- Improve critical infrastructure for payment scale and reliability, payment-option diversity, fraud mitigation, transaction modeling, tax, and international commerce.
- Define technical roadmaps, identify improvement areas, and lead cross-team technical solutions.
- Own projects from inception through production and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with multiple teams and senior leaders, delegate ownership, and mentor engineers.
- Ship high-quality products and features quickly and iteratively.
- Perform frontend work when required.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience building scalable systems for millions of users.
- Experience designing complex distributed systems.
- Strong product instincts, technical judgment, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Experience defining technical roadmaps and leading cross-team initiatives.
- Ability to architect and build systems or products that improve the business.
- Ability to mentor others and help build inclusive, supportive teams.
- Experience owning projects from inception through production and maintenance.
- Ability to become effective quickly in new technologies.
- Experience with multiple programming languages; direct experience with Python, Elixir, or JavaScript is preferred.
- Experience with payment systems, infrastructure, and international commerce is preferred.
- Startup experience at a high-growth company is preferred.
