Base Salary
$142k - $213k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write, review, and ship production-quality backend and platform code alongside the engineering team.
- Own the most complex, high-risk, and ambiguous engineering problems on the platform.
- Set day-to-day technical direction and drive low-level design, including class and module structures, API contracts, data models, sequence flows, and error handling.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews and act as the final technical quality gate for critical components.
- Lead or technically manage backend engineers, provide guidance, mentor junior and mid-level developers, and contribute to hiring and interviews.
- Drive sprint execution by decomposing epics, estimating work, managing technical risks, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Champion automated testing, CI/CD discipline, observability, operational readiness, and remediation of technical debt and production issues.
- Partner with engineering leadership, architects, product, and business stakeholders on technical execution plans.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of hands-on professional software development experience with demonstrated backend engineering depth.
- Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, microservices, and REST or gRPC APIs.
- Proven ability to lead by doing, code regularly, and solve complex technical problems in a hands-on capacity.
- Strong code-review experience, including identifying correctness, security, performance, edge-case, and concurrency issues.
- Expertise in low-level design and the ability to produce and critique detailed technical designs.
- Experience leading or technically mentoring engineering teams; formal people-management experience is a plus.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, design patterns, concurrency, database design, API design, and testing practices.
- Experience in large-scale, regulated, or enterprise environments; financial services experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes blockchain, distributed ledger, or digital asset platforms; Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift; cloud-native architectures; CI/CD pipelines; Agile/Scrum delivery; and formal people management.
